Why Buy American?
Forty-percent of the world is in recession. New records have been set for both personal and corporate bankruptcies. America's trade deficit continues to escalate to historic levels. The savings rate has turned negative, as the average consumer spends $1.10 for every dollar they earn. Real wages for working Americans have plummeted 19% since 1972 - about the same time we entered into a so-called "global economy." We only vote for our representatives every two or four years, but we vote with our wallets and checkbooks every day! How Americans Can Buy American puts the steering wheel controlling our nation's fate in the hands of those who care about it most - The American People. The time has come for ordinary Americans to take control of America's destiny.

Hire Americans. Buy from an American selling American. Save your community.
Since the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) went into affect in 1994, approximately 906,000 American manufacturing jobs have been lost. These are the jobs that over the past 100 years have made America the great nation it is today. NAFTA’s purpose was to create higher paying jobs, improve environmental standards, and increase exports. But, the opposite has happened, American Corporations have taken advantage of NAFTA by relocating their companies to poorer countries for the sake of slave labor, profits, and greed. These American Corporate Terrorists are shamelessly destroying American families, communities, and our great nation. American workers have taken concessions for companies that claim they are unable to stay competitive, and nevertheless these companies end up relocating, and deserting their faithful employees. These decent high paying jobs that once permitted a family to own a home, send the kids to college, are rapidly becoming non-existent, thus leaving Honest Hardworking men and woman without the means to support their families, and unfortunately their children. We Americans must no longer stand for this appalling and unjust treatment.

If current trends continue, the US economy will lose $136 billion in wages and
3.3 million jobs to off-shoring during the next 15 years.
--Forrester Research
We had a big debate in this country in the early '80s about
the Chrysler Corporation and giving federal bailouts for a
billion dollars. The huge crisis was 140,000 jobs to be lost.
In manufacturing, we've lost the equivalent of a Chrysler
Corporation every month for 42 months.
Manufacturing employment peaked in the late 1970s at around
20 million. We're down to 14 million people in manufacturing
today.

Shop Local. Save your community. Save America.
Buy from your neighbor. His money stays in the community.
When you obtain your needs from a local source you do more that just meet a personal need. You meet a community need because what you have done is make an investment in the community within which you live. Your purchase provides the seller with the means to meet his or her own needs. If the seller also shops locally, the same effect is achieved. The money that is used in the purchase travels throughout the community rather than leaving it. As the funds circulate within the community, they provide support for the activities of the community members and build a strong and healthy community at the same time.

Should you buy from that local merchant or from the big box store? Should you bank with your local bank or with that megabank? Where you choose to do your business and your shopping has long term effects on the health of your community. Think about it!

WalMart sucks! Wal-mart blows! The hell with WalMart! Boycott Walmart!
Global trade and lending organizations such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund have made it harder for organizations in any one country, or even governments to protect the interests of their citizens from the greed of multinational corporations. The assets of some of the largest corporations exceed those of many nations. Only as a united global community can we stop them from destroying the environment, violating the most basic human rights of their workers, and exploiting children as a source of cheap labor.

Wal-Mart Facts:
Wal-Mart employs approximately 720,000 people. Of that number, A MAJORITY of them QUALIFY FOR FOOD STAMPS. Yes folks, you, me, all of us, are providing welfare to a majority of Wal-Mart employees, and in essence to Wal-Mart itself. That means that Wal-Mart is responsible for providing poverty level wages to at least 360,000 workers, and their families...but the number is much larger. And the figure includes not just part-time employees, but all full-time employees, as well. Wal-Mart also provides NO affordable Health-Care. For every job that Wal-Mart creates in a community it displaces from 2 to 5 existing jobs, many that formerly provided benefits. Wal-Mart employs approximately 100,000 workers in other countries to manufacture goods sold in Wal-Mart stores. The majority of those jobs qualify for sweatshop status. Much of it is forced labor, such as in China. Of that 100,000, many are children. Wal-Mart gets special tax-breaks in most of the cities that they move into, tax-breaks that are not afforded the smaller "Mom & Pop" stores and other business that they eventually run out of business. Many of the former business owners are then forced to go to work for Wal-Mart for poverty level wages, with no benefits. Wal-Mart likes to advertise its goods as "made in the USA". The truth is, most of their goods are manufactured whole or in-part by sweatshop or forced-labor in other countries. Any Wal-Mart employee who gets "caught" exploring "in any way" the possibility of bringing a union into Wal-Mart is immediately fired. Only one Wal-Mart store is unionized--that is in Canada where they have much stronger labor laws. Wal-Mart's labor practices are, of course, against the law, and they have lost numerous unfair labor suits brought against them by former employees--but they persist in their practices. And now...Wal-Mart is planning to go into the grocery Super-Market business, with the same business ethics and unfair labor practices that they are famous for.
JennyMiller.com
So much has been written about the evils of WalMart. Unfair labor practices. The ruination of local businesses in communities where WalMart invades. It doesn't all need to be repeated here. Primary concern by this webmaster is the strongarm tactics to suppliers to encourage the relocation of manufacturing facilities to China. If you seriously want to shop American Made, you have no business in a WalMart. If their stores were to move the American Made goods to one area I believe it would all fit in the small entrance area where the greeter meets you. Next time you visit a WalMart ask where the American Made goods are displayed. Or, just ask for the list.

Wally announced poor sales over the 2004 Black Friday weekend. They will immediately cut prices through Christmas -click here- . Lowest Prices - Always?
Is that a bunch of crap, or what?
>> Here's what you can do!
Buy some foreign made stuff at WalMart. Then take it back. Tell them you noticed it wasn't Made in USA . Wouldn't it have been better if Wally had record sales on Black Friday, then half of the stuff came back? That would have gotten the message across better than poor sales.
Shop WalMart. Help send an American job to China.
