| Above, Buddy MacMaster plays at the Community Center in Judique, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. At right, he plays at the Gaelic College in St. Ann's, both in 2001. Buddy plays traditional Cape Breton dance tunes handed down by settlers from Scotland's Western Isles. I ran into Buddy on the grounds of the Gaelic College, and asked if I could shake his hand (hoping his talent would rub off!) In his unassuming manner, Buddy apologized in advance for his sticky fingers, because he'd just eaten a strawberry ice cream cone! Maybe that's his secret.... |
