C. Standard firefighting gear, respiratory protection and a standard radiation detector, LEL meter, oxygen detector and PID is correct.

According to the Livermore Study, a gamma energy of 1.69 KeV would require 117 layers of  DemronTM material to cut the gamma exposure rate in half and almost 383 layers of DemronTM material to cut the exposure rate to 1/10. DemronTM material does not “block” radiation. There is no effective PPE for gamma radiation of this energy. Standard firefighting gear is thick enough to attenuate much of the beta radiation. Most standard radiation detectors have a range of 60 KeV to 1.5 or 3.0 MeV and would work to detect Ir-192, Sc-46 and Sb-124.
