Radiation Transmission Measurements for DemronTM Fabric

The purpose of including the link to this article is to provide information on the use of Demron fabric by first responders during a radiological incident.

 

Of particular importance is Section 4.3 (Pages 6 - 7) which addresses the number of layers of Demron material needed to attenuate (shield) moderate energy gamma radiation (Cs-137):

72 layers of Demron material needed for a factor of two reduction in transmission

240 layers of Demron material needed for a factor of ten reduction in transmission

 

And Section 4.4 (Page 7) which addresses the number of layers of Demron material needed to attenuate high energy gamma radiation (Co-60):

115 layers of Demron material needed for a factor of two reduction in transmission

383 layers of Demron material needed for a factor of ten reduction in transmission
