| Web Page Maintance |
I just performed some boring web page maintance. Most importantly, I fixed the calendar which I broke when I "put away" the Christmas decorations (oops). Feel free to use the calendar to make sure it works; at some point we might need it to keep track of matches and other clan activities. I see someone posted Ug's birthday; that's the kind of thing that's nice to see. Some of the other pages got little additions and HTML cleanup. The server page now has a list of working servers (gasp!). If more servers should be listed, let me know and I'll add them. The whole site was run through at HTML checker for bugs and such, and I fixed a few oddities so some of the pages look better through Mozilla. Yes, the scripts (Skillz, Matches) are broken. We need someone who can host and run .asp files. If you can help out, email me and we'll work something out. First post of the new millenium! :) |

| Quake 3 Arena is Out! |
I purchased my game at EB yesterday and by now it should be available at most stores around the country. Not really much to say about it as there are extensive reviews of the game on the net, but so far I've found it to be really good. The bots are really tough! In other news, there has been a steady trickle of new BIOS and roster pictures, so check them out. The web server seems to have straightened out and is running fine and the new message board rocks. Lastly, if you want to
tell someone the address of the OBC web page, always remember to
use the redirector. That way, it will always be correct no
matter how many web providers I switch around too. Here it
is: http://olebastards.cjb.net/ Happy Holidays! |

| New Message Board |
|
You will notice when you click on the message board icon that the old board is gone and in it's place is a new board courtesy of the fine folks at Nachos. For the past several months, LPD has done a great job using his personal computer to host the OBC board. But while the BBS was down for a few days, I was made aware of the Nachos web site. As you will see when you login to the new BBS, these guys have a really nice BBS setup running a very tricked-out version of the same Ultimate BBS that we were using. Yes, we can have smileys back and the "black" look of their board meshes really well with the OBC web site. Another advantage of Nachos is that they already host quite a few Quake clans already and are the home of the official LMCTF BBS. A little cross-pollination between us and a few other Quake clans should certainly be a nice thing. While we will lose a little of the privacy of the old BBS, I believe the advantages strongly outweigh the few drawbacks. |

| Web Page Moving Again |
|
It's that time of the year again, I'm switching providers so the web page most follow. I still haven't resolved some of the problems I'm having at this web server, but since the lights will go out on my old account at the end of the month this is better than nothing. Obviously you made it here, just remember to bookmark the new web page at: http://users.desupernet.net/douglasb5/ In other news, check out some of the new BIOs of OBC members! You can access these BIOs by clicking on the appropriate link in the Roster page. Submitting a BIO is easy, just follow the guidelines in the post below. |

| Roster BIOs Now Live |
|
The BIO section of the Roster page is now officially open. If you check out the page, you will see that the only working link is Squiggy's, who has graciously offered to be the first clan member to post his own BIO. "What can I put in my BIO section?" you might ask. Well, that section is for an OBC member to express his or her originality. It may be a short description of your job, your favorite Quake tactics or your manifesto on politics. Frankly, as long as it doesn't get me in trouble with the FEDS or my internet provider, I don't care what you want to put up. "Cool, I want a personal BIO! How can I get mine online?" That's easy, just follow these quick, easy steps:
Remember, the time it takes to get your BIO page online is directly proportional to the amount of work I have to do. If I have to do little, it happens fast, but if you make me work hard, it's a s-l-o-w process. In other news, even though the clan is not currently active in any ladders or tourneys, I've been seeing plenty of action with fellow OBCers in impromptu RA pick-up teams. If you have a few spare moments during the evening, activate your server browser and search the servers for other clan-people for some pure fraggin' fun. Hope to see all of you online! |

| Roster Page Updates |
| I've added some more
pictures and a few new members to the
Roster page. Check it out so you can gawk at your fellow
clan members. Not much has been going on for the past month or so. The OGL RA Modem team dropped out of the ladder; it was getting to be a pain to get matches scheduled. Other teams were forfeiting matches and we were losing active HPB's as well. Rather than struggling along it was decided to drop out. All is quiet on the Quake front. I guess everybody is hibernating or something. :) |

| New Roster Page Online |
| I'm almost finished
with the new Roster page, so I've put
it online to see what everyone thinks. The Bio page still needs
much work, but the main page is about done. Carefully check
over your entry, and make sure your email address and ICQ number
are correct. A few things: There are a couple members who should be in the roster page, but aren't because I couldn't get current (or any) member information. If you want to be in the roster page, make things easy for your web-grunt and send me your stats! Some people who haven't been seen for awhile have been stuck in the "old members" section. If you are one of these people and would like to be on the active roster, contact me. The new roster page now includes two sections with member supplied information, one is a small picture beside your name, and the other is a Bio section. The picture can be anything you want: a cartoon, a funny picture or your passport or driver's license photo. The only limitation is that the picture size MUST be 110x110 pixels. Right now, almost everyone has a default picture as their mugshot, except for Ugsome Cur who was kind enough to send me his already. Please send your photos to the OBC photo shop, my email box. If you need help formatting your picture to the correct size, I can probably help. The Bio section of the roster page will be a separate page full of OBC member's Bios. A bio can be anything you want it to be: maybe your real-life job or occupation, favorite Quake tactics or a manifesto on your favorite topic. By using a separate page, you shouldn't have much formatting or size limitations- within reason. Hopefully this weekend I'll at least get the background and text colors in the page so those people who wish to get fancy with HTML can have a baseline. |
