| Gibcon Snapshots Online |
Gibby had the big clan get-together at his place again this year. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to this one either, :( but Clucker was nice enough to email me a few pictures of the event. If you want to check them out online, click here to view. I'm sure there are some wild stories, and I'm certainly wondering if that is the "official" OBC haircut that all the guys are displaying. :) Also, some people were asking if it was possible to update their info/pic in the roster page. The answer is absolutely yes, just email your info and pic to me and I'll take care of it. |

| New Version of Rocket Arena 3 available! |
Version 1.5 of the popular (certainly my favorite) Q3 mod Rocket Arena is available for download. New features, a Mac client, better 1.27 support and 5 new maps are the highpoints of the 50 meg client upgrade. Check out the Rocket Arena homepage for more information and a listing of download sites. |

| Quake3: Team Arena Available at Stores Now |
Actually it was available yesterday, but today I braved the amazingly overcrowded malls to pick up my copy. The going price seems to be $30, at least that's what I paid. After playing with it for a few hours, my first thought is "Expensive, but slick." More opinions later when I actually play with the thing a bit more. PS: I've had absolutely no problems with the Team Arena and it works great on my system. A beta patch is available already for Rocket Arena so it's compatable with Team Arena and the latest point release for regular Q3. |

| New Quake3: Arena Point Release |
id has released the new point release for Quake3: Arena tonight. This should be the "regular" release making Q3A compatable with the new and soon available Quake3: Team Arena. Check your favorite (and probably swamped) download site for the 18 meg download. |

Congratulations, you made it! Welcome to the new home of the OBC webpage. Aren't animated GIFs annoying? :)

Yes, it's time for my bi-yearly ISP switching. I've had quite enough of the 350-400 ms pings of my current ISP, so I'm dumping them and switching to a different one, Pacifier. Things are looking really good at this ISP and how could you not love a ISP that includes full UNIX shell access with their dialups? Since I'm moving, the OBC web page will have to follow. Luckily, with the redirector, it should go rather easily. Just point your web browser to this address: http://olebastards.cjb.net/ NOTE: If you saved a bookmark in your web browser, you will have to re-save it when you connect to the new website! Just type the above address in the address box of your web browser and re-save it. The bookmarks that the web browser uses also save the code that points your browser to this address; that's why you have to resave it. I'll post an extra article on the new server that should make it obvious you have successfully transferred to the new server. |

| RA3 and other News |
In the messageboard, BlackFlag reported the exciting news that Rocket Arena 3 will be released this Sunday. Weighing in at a healthy 60 meg download (not counting the 70 megs of music in a separate archive), I'm sure net performance will take a big hit that day as tons of RA enthusiasts, (me included), feverishly download the huge mod. Rocket Arena is always an absolutely first class mod, and the Quake3 release looks like it has tons of nifty features. I can't wait! Since this will probably be a "heavy gaming" weekend, now is a good time to pimp the Gamespy2mIrc script. If you use the Gamespy game browser, this script allows you to hang-around in a IRC chat room with your game type, server IP# and other goodies easily available to other chat room attendees. It's really slick and makes finding the rest of your OBC buddies a piece of cake! Remember, our IRC meeting place is still the same, check out the older news tidbit below for more information on the were and how of the IRC chat room. I've done a bit of long-overdue maintance work on the OBC site. ALT tags were added to certain images to make things easier for those of us who occasionally navigate the web page with a text browser like links (ok, maybe that's only me). Since the scripts have been down for awhile and really not needed anymore, I've made the Skillz button link to the OBC clan section of the Champions League for Quake website. The most interesting information on the page is how many hours some of us rack up playing Quake/Half-Life, UT. Psycho-therapy, anyone? :) |

| Still Alive... |
Hello there, long time no post. Just wanted to let everyone know that I did some changes to the roster page, dropping some people who no longer wanted to be in the clan. If you were deleted from the roster page but would still like to be there, send me some email and I'll straighten it out. |

| More IRC Info |
I just got done trying out the new IRC script mentioned in the news post below and I must say that it ROCKS! If you have Gamespy and mIRC, it's use couldn't be any simplier. First, you start-up mIRC and hop into the obc room at irc.enterthegame.com. From there, you can see what everyone else is doing in the obc room. If you type !GAMEINFO, you will get the server address and other info of all the players that are currently "away" from the room. If you use Gamespy, the script does all the work. As soon as you hop onto a server, you are auto-magically marked away and your server IP# and other goodies are setup for you. It's great! Download the script at this webpage and start using it now! |

| IRC Info |
BlackFrag made it a bit easier for OBCers to find each other on the net for those impromptu games we like so much. Check out this post he made in the OBC message board: ooooh k... i went ahead and done it. i registered the #obc channel on enterthegame. with this we got #chanserv (a bot) that will auto-op us when we enter the channel we now have an irc home to get in u can just use gspy chat server= irc.eneterthegame.com port= 6667 channel= #obc or even better download mIRC 5.61 at http://www.mirc.co.uk/get.html. then add server= ky.enterthegame.com port= 6667 if you use mIRC u can add a script that will let anyone that enters the channel know what server you are play'n on. i don't remember the link to the script, just let me know and i'll send it to ya... it's only like 5k if we all start hang'n in irc it will be easier to figure out who's play'n what/where. and irc is (in my opinion) a ton better than icq chat. Sounds like a neat idea to me, I'll have to get that script from BF. Hopefully this will make it easier to find other clan-people online using this (or any other method). Even to play that goofy UT that everyone likes so much. :) |
