Alan Perkins
came to 13Q from WMYQ in Miami in early 1975. He served as Production Director
for 13Q and SRP (Schulke) programmed WSSH-FM. He was also a voice actor
in a creative services staff of three including Pittsburgh's legendary
voice actors Bob Wilson and Melanie Workhoven.

regional ad agencies was
mostly handled in one of the first multi-track analog studios in an American
radio station which was designed and built by Jack Williams of then fledgling
Pacific Recorders in San Diego. Perkins often engineered the sessions
during the day and then mixed in the early evening.
In addition Perkins was given the task of keeping the station's "imaging" fresh, which was a major objective Group PD Bill Tanner brought to the effort needed to stabilize the shaky ratings in the Spring of 1975. On weekends, Perkins did two shows on 13Q and vacation swing as well. After 13Q, Perkins worked at WNOE-FM New Orleans, WEFM-Chicago (on - air and Production Director) WAIL-New Orleans, Modulation Sciences-New York and after graduate school at Tulane University, grew his family's broadcast operations in Mississippi from 2 stations to 5 including a Fox TV Affiliate which he acquired for the group in 1990. In 2002, Perkins moved back to New York where he spent a year as Chief Engineer at Big City Radio's 4 FM New York Cluster. Now he is "re-inventing himself to produce all manner of content whether it's video, audio or print and irregardless of the modality of delivery, be it over the air, over the web or via Wi-Fi IP". He writes on politics, media and economics, draws political cartoons, voices documentary programming and says he knows what it means to miss New Orleans. |
