Bob
DeCarlo was inducted into the Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame on May 12,
2016.
In
1972, Bob and Pittsburgh record producers Nick Cenci and Nick Kousaleos
recorded the hit "Convention
'72" as the Delegates. Bob was the voice of "Walter Klondike".
Here's
the story.
Bob is a native of New York City although he was raised in Scranton, Pa. and graduated from Penn State University. He started his broadcast career at WDFM, the Penn State station. At one time he even served in the gubernatorial race of Governor Chaffe of Rhode Island. Chafee went on to be US Secretary of the Navy. Since leaving Pittsburgh, Bob has spent time Atlanta (WGST), San Diego (KOGO), Miami (WIOD) and Tampa (WUSA-FM), Dallas (KLUV-FM), Panama City Florida (WVEE-FM and B-95.1). Bob and his wife Linda sold their McDonald's Franchises in Panama City and opened an Uncle Maddio's Pizza franchise in St. Petersburg, Florida in February 2017. note... One of the reasons I am in radio today is Bob DeCarlo. Bob was kind enough over the years to give me advise and guidance as I tried to learn the radio business. I first spoke to Bob when he was a Sunday Night guest on Dr. Nestor's Career Line Show. Bob and I have kept in touch through the years since he left KQV and the steel city. Bob sent me a number of pictures and airchecks from his KQV days. I hope you enjoy them. ... Jeff Jeff:
