Don Berns

Don at WCRC - 1969
Don Berns came to WTAE from WHB in Kansas City in 1979 replacing Bob Dearborn in afternoon drive. While in Pittsburgh, Don was very active in community theater. He has acted and sang for years. Don was WTAE's music director and also appeared each week on WTAE-TV's AM Pittsburgh show. Don's show was always fun and included features such as "The Dumb Joke Of The Day" (most of Don's are) and "Stump The Disk Jockey"

Don is from Hartford, Ct, and his radio career has included stops at some of the greatest stations in the country. WICE in Providence, WDRC in Hartford, WTRY in Albany, WKBW in Buffalo, KLIF in Dallas, KFMB-FM in San Diego are just some of the stops in America. Don now lives in Toronto and has worked at a number of staions in Canada. Don does national (and international) voice-overs, including TV documentaries, from his base in Toronto.

Don deejayed for many years in clubs in Toronto as his alter ego Dr. Trance and was very active in the theater in Toronto. When Don was not acting or deejaying he could be found at the Foonman Home for the Terminally Bored.

Born on August 18, 1947, Don passed away on Sunday March 1, 2015. Don is believed to have died at his home of a heart attack.
