14 Apr 2005 Just read your story. I was charged with DUI and not driving. The witness who signed the affidavit stating I was driving the truck changed her testimony at the preliminary hearing to she could not identify me. My case was still bound over for trial. In Lehigh county they do not even give you a public defender. After paying my attorney over a grand he wants a 3,500.00 retainer and it could run up in the 10,000's range for a crime I did not do. I will loose my license pay any where from 3 to 5000. Never had a DUI charge ever in my 40 years of driving. My last ticket was 25 or 30 years ago. I have a friend who had a minor assult charge against him. He didn't hurt the person, he is 70 but was angry. He is on probation for a year and his probation fine alone is over $7000. I know when I get my situation resolved I am moving to a state where a person is free and has rights under the US constitution. -- George |
