Alpacas at Springsberry Farms
|
Plum Blossom is our first huacaya alpaca and as you can plainly see she is a special girl! Her fiber is lovely and soft, and she grows a lot of it every year! It really is amazing how soft and fine it is considering her stage of production! Her cria Pansy is in our Cria Corner and will show you the strength of the genetics behind our grey and black females. Plum Blossom produced a gorgeous bay black macho cria in September, and is exposed to Silver Lining for an early Fall 2005 cria. This colorful package is available for #25,000.00.
After years of research, dreaming and scheming, we finally did it! Our alpaca herd became a reality. Here is a shot of part of our first little herd of alpacas before they arrived. As you can see, there are suris as well as huacaya. Valentina--mom of the two white suris in this pic, is not pictured. The two biggest selling points with her were her apparent past record as a good mom, and the improving quality of her female offspring each successive year, depending on the quality of the herdsire. That bigger suri in the picture is actually the big sis to the tiny white cria in the picture. She was very protective of her little sis. She used to be best buds with the llama in front of her, (I cut the llama out of the picture since all that showed was the hinter parts!gg) Check back to see the rest of our little herd as I continue to post pictures on our site and don't forget to order fiber for your very own fiberfrenzy experience. We have weanlings available now! You will want to let me know which ones you are interested in and arrange to visit our farm to meet them! Be sure to visit our fiber page to order fiber and other products. Shearing was a great success this year!
Here are a few of our alpacas, enjoying the coolness of our side porch! I am planning to move our patio furniture around here along with a wading pool, and serve us all pina colatas (lemonade for those who are on the wagon for the sake of their unborn cria!) What do you think?
Victoria is shown here on the moment of take-off! She had just observed that feed was being poured out, the rest of the herd was eating, and she was determined not to be late for dinner---photo shoot or no! Look at the movement of her lusciously silky fine lovely long locks! Victoria is availalble for sale for $30,000.

Rosie Posie Rose Grey Huacaya
|
Rosie is shown here clipped and in the rosy light of near-dusk. She is self-appointed herd guardian, though not the largest camelid in the pastures, the first one to "greet" any visitors of the canine persuasion, as our neighbors' border collie learned to his complete dismay! Her fiber is soft and has such a wonderful handle to it, which belies her nearly 12 years of age! Rosie is the dam of a rose grey herdsire in Missouri, and grand dam of rose grey offspring mostly female in that herd. This makes a statement concerning the influence of the rose grey gene in her genetics.
Bebida is a maroon Chilean female and she is bred to Olympian's Thor for a late fall 2004 cria. She is a gentle and concerned mom with an abundant milk supply. Bebida is available for sale for $12,000.00 with cria at side and bred back to your choice of Thor or Silver Lining for a Fall 2005 cria.
