KTLN in Denver. Al was appointed KQV's News Director on December 9, 1964.

After leaving KQV, Al went to WCAU in Philadelphia as a talk show host. Al Julius returned to Pittsburgh to work for KDKA-TV from November 1973 to July 1978 and September 1981 to January 1991. Al also worked at KABC-TV in Los Angeles between his 2 stints at KDKA-TV. Al was was know for his hard hitting style and commentaries. He was instrumental in the shutting down of the Brick Alley area of McKeesport. When Al was looking for something that would set him apart from other newscasters, John Rook suggested that silence always would make people sit up and take notice on KQV. No one who listened to KQV in the mid 1960's will ever forget Al's closing to his newscasts. "This .... (long pause) ... Is Al Julius" Al Julius passed away on June 28, 2002 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Al died of lung cancer at the age of 73. Al Julius' commentaries were
